The inspiration for Deirdre Fleming Design began in Deirdre’s childhood. She experienced ‘home’ as a place of comfort and stability, in a space where creativity was explored and cherished, with life-long memories formed.  

Deirdre’s vision of home expanded in 2016 when she renovated and redesigned her own home. She discovered a deep well of creative energy in the quest to honor the home’s 1920’s architectural design and to create a beautiful and inspiring space which would attend to the needs of an active family and pets. In this exhilarating journey, she was guided by talented, wise and seasoned designers whose design techniques influenced and are integrated into her work today. Her family’s home was showcased in the Virginia-Highland Tour of Homes.

Deirdre Fleming Design was launched in 2019 with the mission to collaborate with clients in creating beautiful and functional homes that bring them happiness. 

Her design philosophy is that furniture, fabrics, lighting, rugs, window treatments and accessories come together to elevate spaces and communicate warmth and personality. In creating an easy, livable space, she sees beauty in mixing old and new, integrating a variety of textures and patterns, and using nature inspired colors. She loves using lighting to transform rooms, and attends to scale and shape to create balance. Deirdre’s work is described as cozy, elegant, cohesive and connected to nature.

She is guided by an intuitive awareness that our physical environment affects our well-being. The homes she designs are joined to these paths of reflection: how do we want to feel when we arrive home? In what types of settings do we see beauty and feel inspiration for all that we undertake in the world? How does our ideal day flow and how can the function of a home accommodate those needs? Deirdre’s aspiration is to complete every engagement having co-created a home that is a true and unique reflection of her client’s personality, style and sense of beauty.

Grounded in skills learned from a master’s degree in business administration and an early career in project management, Deirdre also brings an organized and well-planned approach to turning dreams into reality.
